Check out this outrageous, and outrageously beautiful, ceiling installed by artist Jon Fabre at the Royal Palace in Brussels. It is a mosaic of sorts, made from the shells of 1.3 million jewel beetles. They are actually a food source in Thailand, so the artist set up a cottage industry to collect enough for the work: shells that would've been discarded are upcycled.
