The worlds of Fine Art and Design are always collaborating in some way or another. When an accessory, wall, or room accent is needed-art can fill the design void. In many cases a designer sources out an artist, or gallery, to exclusively work with, it all comes down to the aesthetic of each individual project and the aesthetic of the designer and/or artist. The relationship between designer, artist, and a gallery can foster fabulous creative projects that meet a deeper client need: originality. To fill that deep client need site-specific work can be commissioned with permission by a gallery and with collaboration with a certain artist. The result is the perfect melding of art and design, while giving an artist a degree of controlled expression of the designers/clients aesthetic.
We have had the opportunity to work with a number of talented artist and fabulous galleriest, but Paul Villinski (represented by Morgan Lehman Gallery) is a stand out. Paul is a conceptual artist who uses left behind soda and beer cans to create his marvelous, playful, and thought-provoking flight-inspired artworks. Below are images of the installation process Paul uses to create his one-of-a-kind works of art. This site specific installation was installed in one of our clients homes. Enjoy!
